The Librarian: Obligatory intro post

Despite its name, this is not a blog about books. It's about clothes, nail polish, cupcakes (I'm actually partial to donuts, so they're a lot more likely to show up around here) - you know, girly stuff.

I'm also not a librarian. I'm interning in a historical archive, which probably makes me an apprentice archivist. But I've always thought librarians were great, and Rachel Weisz's passionate cry in The Mummy ("I'm a librarian!") confirmed my suspicions. I'm telling you this so you know not to expect expensive clothes and shoes - I'm working for free.

This blog will document my attempts at being more creative with clothes, as the jeans + t-shirt route is so tempting but often uninspiring. Not only that, but since I cut off several inches of my hair I've also realised it is very easy to look feminine with waist-long hair, and a lot trickier to achieve a similar effect with my ears permanently uncovered.

Apesar do nome, este blog não é sobre livros. É sobre roupas, vernizes, donuts - coisas de rapariga.

Também não sou uma bibliotecária. Estou a estagiar num arquivo histórico, e isso deve querer dizer que sou uma aprendiz de arquivista... talvez. Mas sempre achei as bibliotecárias incríveis, e a exclamação apaixonada da Rachel Weisz no filme A Múmia ("Sou uma bibliotecária!") confirmou as minhas suspeitas. Estou a dizer-vos isto tudo para que não esperem ver por aqui roupas e sapatos caros, já que estou a trabalhar de graça.

Este blog vai documentar as minhas tentativas de ser mais criativa com as roupas, porque sucumbi demasiadas vezes ao conforto pouco inspirado dos jeans + t-shirt. E não só isso; desde que cortei vários centímetros de cabelo, percebi que é muito fácil parecer feminina com cabelo até à cintura, e infinitamente mais difícil obter o mesmo efeito com as orelhas permanentemente a descoberto.
